Our Heritage

The 35 year journey of American Salon & Spa began in 1972 when husband and wife Don and Glenda Drummonds opened up their first salon, The Lions Den. After two years they expanded their services and opened their second salon Beauxcheveux. Ten years later they moved locations to Gainesville, GA and opened the doors to American Hair. It was there that they changed the face of beauty. Don & Glenda both founded American Hair with the dreams of changing their small towns’ perception of beauty. They brought new ideas and techniques that they had both gained from traveling all over the US
competing in hair shows. After over twenty years in the industry Glenda retired to raise her fourth child. It was then that Don decided that his dreams of being a stylist had
brought him to discovering the dream of teaching. He began to teach his daughter Dana Drummonds the gift and artistry of cosmetology. After years of training under her father Dana’s passion and talent led her to becoming a partner. In 2000 Don and Dana expanded American Hair to American Salon & Spa, and became the first Aveda Concept Salon north of Atlanta.
